The Fall Classic

All season, all October, leads up to this moment. The Opening of the World Series.

It is the best time of year again and I am mesmerized by the opening of the World Series. There is no better sporting event than the possibility of seven games of baseball between the two best teams.

I get excited watching the opening ceremonies. Phillies and Yankees line up on the baselines for introductions; A perfect rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by an American Veteran; Another two great American Veterans, Yogi Berra and injured Army Ranger Tony Odierno, are honored in the first pitch ceremony with the First and Second Ladies of the United States.

I am in a great mood, The Series is about to start. . . and then it happens. I am brutally reminded of the biggest, most glaring, shortcoming The Series has.

The camera cuts to Joe Buck. . . and then Tim McCarver. . . and I am rudely reminded that the World Series is still on FOX.

I can't put my finger on it nor can I tell you exactly why the Joe, Tim, and FOX combination bugs me so much, but it does. But it is probably Tim.

Oh well, I guess I can look forward to the end of the 2013 World Series when the current FOX contract expires. . . well as long as MLB does not renew.

Some thing to think about.

Game time temp in Bronx is 53 degrees and now it is starting to rain again. It is too bad the Rockies did not make the World Series. Weather in Denver is currently 29 degrees with snow falling and it "feels like" 19 degrees. But to be fair Saturday's weather in Denver, when the Series goes to the National League Park, calls for a low of 37.
